UFOs, Ghosts & Bigfoots

If you’re a fan of classic horror and science fiction films, there’s a good chance you’ve had an interest in UFOS, ghosts, Loch Ness or Bigfoots!

It was in my school library at Park Forest Jr. High where I found a book on flying saucers and UFOs. It was one of those hardbacked paperback-sized books. I saw the pictures in the middle of the book. Fuzzy photos, blurred UFOs and some clearer ones too! Having loved movies like THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, EARTH VS. THE FLYING SAUCERS, IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE…it intrigued me.

Maybe there were real visitors from other worlds. What would they look like? Friendly, benevolent…or, just pretending to be…ready to eliminate us and take the Earth…or, just eat us as an auxiliary food supply! Yikes!

I started getting every UFO, weird animal or ghost book from the Scholastic Book Service through school. I never was an all-out believer in most of the accounts…although some of the UFO accounts had me seriously wondering.

Hey, when there wasn’t a monster movie on TV and no new monster magazines or books….where could you turn? It was great filler for your imagination while you awaited the movies or the latest FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND magazine.

I’ve been to Loch Ness, I’ve hiked in the mountains of Pennsylvania, I’ve creeped around abandoned old houses in the woods, and I’m always looking up at the sky and stars. Have I ever seen any of these things that I was reading about? Well, some maybes and one definite “yes.” If you run in to me at a convention this year, you can bring it up with me and I’ll tell you what I saw. Unmistakable.

In the meantime…I’m going to keep watching the skies.
